The cross country race was started in 2000 by Dave Hogg and he organised the race at every May Fayre until 2011. A shorter race for juniors was held for the first time in 2003 over a 1.5 mile course to Shearsby. There is an entry fee and prizes are awarded to the winners of various categories.

2018 - 28 May Dave Hogg returned to organise the 17th running of the race. 51 adult competitors took part (32 men and 19 ladies) as well as 19 juniors. Full results»     Photo album - Prize Winners»

2015 Race - 25 May
The race went very well this year with a total of 53 entrants, the course being shortened at the last minute to 4.25 miles due to the discovery of badger sets.  A big thank you to all runners, marshalls and organisers who made the race happen once again. Full results»

The organisation of the 2014 race was undertaken for the second time by Keith and Jane Palmer with help from Pete Turner and Monica and John Dowson and many others who helped as marshalls.

The course is approximately 5 miles long; it starts in Arnesby and visits Shearsby and Bruntingthorpe along public footpaths, over fields and tracks and styles and gates. Studs or similar are advisable. The race start is on St Peter's Road and the finish is outside St Peter's Church.
